Here is a rough demo of <a href=””>”The Wrestler,”a song that Bruce wrote for the movie of the same name. The movie was named the best at the Venice Film Festival. Here are two versions of the Lyrics that have been transposed by a couple of fans…

Have you ever seen a one trick pony in fields of ???? ???? ????
If you’ve ever seen a one trick pony then you’ve seen me.
Have you ever seen a one legged dog making its way down the street
If you’ve ever seen a one legged dog then you’ve seen me

Then you’ve seen me – I come and stand in every door
You’ve seen me – I always leave with less than I had before
You’ve seen me – but I can make you smile when the blood it hits the floor
Tell me friend, can you ask for anything more
Tell me, can you ask for anything more

Have you ever seen the scarecrow stuffed(?) with nothing but dust and weed
If you’ve ever seen that scarecrow then you’ve seen me
Have you ever seen a one armed man punching at nothing but the breeze
If you’ve ever seen a one armed man then you’ve seen me

Then you’ve seen me I come and stand in every door
You’ve seen me I always leave with less than I had before
You’ve seen me but I can make you smile when the blood it hits the floor
Tell me friend, can you ask for anything more
Tell me, can you ask for anything more

These things ???? ???? me I try to leave(?)…
This place that is my home – I cannot stay(?)
I always wake from the broken bones and bruises I display

Have you ever seen a one legged man trying his (????) to break free
If you’ve ever seen a one legged man then you’ve seen me…

Here is the second version….

Have you ever seen a one trick pony in the fields of Asbury city?
If you’ve ever seen a one trick pony then you’ve seen me
Have you ever seen a one legged dog making its way down the street?
If you’ve ever seen a one legged dog then you’ve seen me

Then you’ve seen me, I come and stand at every door
You’ve seen me, I always leave with less than I had before
You’ve seen me, but I can make you smile when the blood it hits the
floor
Tell me friend can you ask for anything more?
Tell me can you ask for anything more?

Have you ever seen the scarecrow stood with nothing but dust and weed
If you’ve ever seen that scarecrow then you’ve seen me
Have you ever seen a one armed man punch at nothing but [the breeze/
debris]
If you’ve ever seen a one armed man then you’ve seen me

Then you’ve seen me, I come and stand at every door
You’ve seen me, I always leave with less than I had before
You’ve seen me, but I can make you smile when the blood it hits the
floor
Tell me friend can you ask for anything more?
Tell me can you ask for anything more?

These things that [jumps] in me I try to wake
This place that is my home I cannot [fake/stay/stand]
My only faith’s from the broken bones and bruises that we [???????]

Have you ever seen a one legged man trying his hand to break free?
If you’ve ever seen the one legged man then you’ve seen me

Been trying to transcribe the lyrics since 06-Sep when I first received the mp3. Not easy at all with this bad quality. Anyways, I think we’re very close to the correct lyrics.

Have you ever seen a one legged man trying to dance his way free?
If you’ve ever seen that one legged man then you’ve seen me.

Are millions of people missing that Springsteen is visualizing a 3-legged dog, not 1-legged dog? A 1-legged dog would just lay there and squirm around, probably not do a very good job of making it’s way down the street.
