Bruce Springsteen, ‘The Wrestler’, Oscar Snubbed!

How wrong could we have been?  The Academy Award Nominations are in and Bruce Springsteen’s, ‘The Wrestler,’ was not nominated for Best Original Song.   The Golden Globe winning song didn’t seem to pass muster with the members of the Academy  Nominating Committee.  The Academy did nomintate Mickey Rourke for Best Actor and Marisa Tomei for best supporting actress for their roles in The Wrestler.  

The nominees for Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original song) are:

  • “Down to Earth” from “WALL-E” (Walt Disney), Music by Peter Gabriel and Thomas Newman, Lyric by Peter Gabriel
  • “Jai Ho” from “Slumdog Millionaire” (Fox Searchlight), Music by A.R. Rahman, Lyric by Gulzar
  • “O Saya” from “Slumdog Millionaire” (Fox Searchlight), Music and Lyric by A.R. Rahman andMaya Arulpragasam

      That is fuckin’ bullshit. The wrestler is easily the best song of 2008. The retards at the oscars insist on playing that hindi slum crap. Then they wonder why nobody watches the ceremony anymore.

      This is horrible, this song clearly not only should be nominated, but easily win. I can’t believe they would snub him like that, how awful. Gran Torino also got snubbed. Who decides these things?
